                     The
Humpback Whale is an endangered species due to excessive
hunting in the last few centuries. Humpbacks are 35 to 48
feet in length and 65 tons. The female is also much larger
then the male because it needs the extra space for gestation
of young. There were once over 200,000 humpbacks in the
oceans of the world but today there are only about 6000
                      left.

The Humpback is also able to live to 95 or even 100 years
in the wild. The humpback eats krill which is a shrimp-like
crustacean and small schooling fish such as herring and
mackerel. The humpback will eat between 2000 and 9000 pounds
of fish everyday. The humpback whale song is only done by
the males. They are known for throwing their bodies out
of the water and scientists are not sure weather it is for
                      courtship or a play activity.
