Vultures
are a bird prey and can found in many different parts of
the world. They do not hunt their own prey, instead they
wait for another animal like a lion to kill an animal and
they come and feed on the pieces the lion doesn't want.
The only meat they eat are from the muscles and vicera of
their dead prey. Vultures make their nests in high places,
anywhere but trees, to ensure that another predator does
not kill their young.
Their average weight tends to be about 15 pounds and their
wingspan is often about eight feet. Vultures often only
have one young per season and the incubation period for
their eggs lasts about 50 days. They also tend to live about
38 years in the wild and 42 in captivity. Their distended
crops and gizzards can hold over 13 pounds of meat at a
time so they can take it back to the nest to feed their
young.
