Heat is very important for the well being of your animal. Too hot an enclosure will kill your animal within minutes; too cold an enclosure will lead to serious health problems. The preferred temperature gradient within a cage is 24 to 32 degrees. Your animal will choose its desired heat by moving between the two extremes.

Heat Pads work efficiently and cheaply for the majority of Lizards kept. When placed under one portion of your animal's enclosure a temperature gradient is created. Depending on the species of animal you are keeping a light or ceramic heat lamp might be needed as well as or instead of the heat pad. Lights and heat lamps should be connected to a thermostat.

Clean water must be available at all times for your Lizard; the water should be replaced at least twice per week. The size and specific requirements of your animal must be taken into account when choosing a suitable water bowl.

The installation of UV light specifically for reptiles is crucial to your Lizards health. Without UV light Lizards suffer from Metabolic Bone Disorder, Vitamin deficiencies, and may eventually die.

Once again I must re-iterate different species, different needs. All lizards enjoy a variety of foods. Insect eaters may be offered crickets, cockroaches, mealworms, wax worms or moths. For those Lizards which like fruit and vegetables there is a large range of soft foods available.
